| In late January, Del Mar surfer girl Elizabeth “Lizzy” Clark set sail in her 40-foot sailboat on the adventure of a lifetime — San Diego to Baja, Baja to Mainland, Mainland to Central, Central to South American, South Pacific to New Zealand, and on and on — in search of waves, in search of adventure, and in search of herself. Along her way, she promised to keep SURFING Mag abreast of her travels, so that we can at least dream as big as her. Here are are her stories. |
 Where's Lizzy: Episode 5
On our last morning in Zihuatenejo, I turned the engine over to warm her up and a sound like a garbage disposal rumbled from under my feet. Immediately shutting her down, I ripped off the engine covers to assess the damage.
 Where's Lizzy: Episode 4
The first solid south swell has just spent over a week flushing the Michoacan coastline with waves. It just so happened that Swell was floating within striking distance of a spot I'd been eyeing on the charts for the last two months. The swell is gone now, its energy translated into memories. My body bears the only tangible evidence of its occurrence.
 Where's Lizzy: Episode Three
With Swell's bow headed south again, Shannon, Kemi, and I — the first all female crew of the voyage-plowed across the 25 mile mouth of Banderas Bay. We would round Cabo Corrientes, the Mexican equivalent of California's Point Conception for notoriously nasty weather, at 10:00pm that night.
