4-Star ASP WQS / Grade 2 Pro Junior event that boasts a field of 224 international professional surfers who will compete for a part of the $85,000 prize purse, ASP ratings points and standing in the Macy’s California Trifecta Surf Series presented by Jeep.
Lured by the attraction of surfing one of the best waves in California, and by the prestige that comes with a solid performance in the U.S. surf industry’s backyard, an elite field of competition will compete in both the WQS and Pro Junior divisions. Known for its heated competition and excellent conditions, the Body Glove Surfbout has a storied and venerated history. Considered to be one of the world’s most prestigious qualifying events, its winners list reads like a who’s who of the pro surfing world. The vast majority of past champions have either been current, former, or future WCT competitors. Last year, WCT hopeful Dustin Cuizon added his name to the legacy and the list, while Eric Geiselman went on to become the inaugural winner of the Oakley Pro Junior.

The O'Neill Cold Water Classic presented by Jeep in conjunction with the Oakley Pro Junior has been Northern California's premiere professional surfing event since it's inception in 1987. “The Lane” has become known over the years as one of the world's greatest spectator venues, and the icy water, combined with the rugged conditions have proven to be a right of passage for aspiring surfers as they set their skills against the elements. A field of 224 world-class surfers will converge in Santa Cruz for this 4-Star ASP WQS event.
Last year, the Roman Coliseum-like arena played host to thousands of onlookers who lined the cliffs, watching an ever tightening Trifecta Point’s Title showdown, a race that eventually came to its conclusion during last wave ridden in the final. When the spray cleared, Nate Yeomans narrowly emerge as the champ over Nathaniel Curran.
