DAILY BEACH CLEAN UPS ADDED TO JEEP® BODY GLOVE SURFBOUT AND OAKLEY PRO JUNIOR IN REVERENCE TO TRESTLES AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITY

Top Talent to Compete in the First Stop of the Macy’s California Trifecta Surf Series
Which Has Added an All-New Jeep® Patriot, Points Bonus and Increased Prize Purse for 2007

San Clemente, Calif., April 11, 2007 — The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 4-star Jeep® Body Glove Surfbout and ASP Grade-2 Oakley Pro Junior has added daily Ocean Minded beach clean ups to the event this year to show respect for the revered break and surrounding community. The event, which is the first stop of the Macy’s California Trifecta Surf Series presented by Jeep, will bring 192 of the world’s best professional surfers and 32 of the world’s best juniors to Lower Trestles, Apr. 24-28, 2007. The Macy’s California Trifecta also boasts significant upgrades for 2007, including an increased prize purse, points bonus and an all-new 2007 Jeep Patriot for the winner making it a critical series for North American surfers.

The beach clean ups will occur every day from 2pm to 4pm. Gloves and trash bags will be available at the Ocean Minded tent at the north end of the event site. “Events such as the Jeep Body Glove Surfbout bring out some of the best in surfing," said Gary Ward, president of Ocean Minded. “We at Ocean Minded are excited to lead beach clean-up efforts at the event. Each day, there will be an opportunity to leave the beach cleaner than when we all arrived, so as to ensure that events like the Surfbout can continue for the years to come. Trestles is a magical place and we all need to put our best foot forward to protect it. Surfers from all over the world enjoy its serenity.”

Last year, the Surfbout title and a piece of the $75,000 prize purse was captured by Dustin Cuizon (Ewa Beach, HI), who is seeded seventh in this year’s event. The rest of the field is once again packed with local and international talent including 2001 ASP World Champion CJ Hobgood (Melbourne Beach, FL) and his twin brother Damien (Satellite Beach, FL), both currently ranked 17th on the Foster’s ASP World Tour, as well as fellow Tour surfers Dayyan Neve (Manly Beach, AUS), Gabe Kling (St. Augustine, FL) and local favorites Chris Ward (San Clemente, CA) and 2006 Macy’s California Trifecta Series Champion Nathan Yeomans (San Clemente, CA). ASP WQS standouts Mike Losness (San Clemente, CA), Shaun Ward (Huntington Beach, CA), Austin Ware (Solano Beach, CA), Ryan Helm (Jupiter, FL) and Anthony Petruso (Malibu, CA) are also confirmed to compete.

Eric Geiselman (New Smyrna Beach, FL), who went on to become the 2006 ASP North America Pro Junior Champion, claimed the first Oakley Pro Junior win last year and will return as the number one seed this year. Rounding out the top five junior seeds is Nick Rozsa (Oxnard, CA), Adam Wickwire (Satellite Beach, FL), Kilian Garland (Newport Beach, CA) and Jesse Heilman (Daytona Beach, FL).

With a history that began in the late-80’s, the Jeep Body Glove Surfbout continues to play a crucial role in the growth of American surfing. Known for its large prize purse, reputable list of competitors and prime location at Lower Trestles, the Surfbout continues to build as an anchor event for ASP North America and has become one of the most prestigious events in the mainland U.S.

The Macy’s California Trifecta Surf Series presented by Jeep (an ASP North America Specialty Series) was formed in 2005 as part of a three-year plan to strengthen surfing in America by uniting the Jeep Body Glove Surfbout, the Newport Pro presented by Jeep, and the O’Neill Cold Water Classic presented by Jeep under one banner. The Macy’s California Trifecta Surf Series provides surfers with an opportunity to earn crucial points on the ASP WQS, which allows them the chance of advancing to the coveted Foster’s ASP World Tour. The Macy’s California Trifecta will award a $33,333 bonus and an all-new 2007 Jeep Patriot to the surfer who takes first-place in all three events. Should no one surfer take the win in all three events, the Macy’s California Trifecta awards an overall points-winner bonus and the Jeep Patriot while Juniors will vie for an additional $5,000. In 2006, Nate Yeomans (San Clemente, CA) had a tremendous year and was awarded $10,000 for winning the Macy’s California Trifecta points bonus, narrowly beating out Nathaniel Curran (Oxnard, CA) at the stop’s final event, the O’Neill Cold Water Classic presented by Jeep.

For surfing enthusiasts who can’t make it to Trestles, starting Apr. 24 all of the Jeep Body Glove Surfbout action will be viewable online with streaming video and live scoring at www.surfbout.com.

The 2007 Jeep Body Glove Surfbout is happy to once again have support from Oakley, Ocean Minded, the San Clemente Times, FUEL TV, and PRIMEDIA’s Action Sports Group (ASG), publisher of SURFER, SURFING and WaveWatch.
