When it comes Australia’s homegrown, underground talent,
it is local salt of the earth types like Lincoln Taylor that give
the Land Down Under such a good name. Proving that given the opportunity,
he’s capable of going shoulder to shoulder with the world’s
best, and as in the case of the Oakley Pro Junior, coming out on
top. With his recent upset victory over Julian Wilson at the North
Stradbroke stop, Lincoln came up with aces over the heavily favored
Wilson. “I’m over the moon,” said Taylor, whose
previous best ever result on the pro junior series was a quarterfinal
finish. “It’s my last year on the series and I really
wanted to win this event in front of all my family and friends.
I couldn’t have asked for a better place to do it. Every
surfer dreams about winning an event at their local beach. I can’t
believe that it happened to me.” Well, at the very least
Lincoln’s going to have one more chance for a win as he’ll
be heading out to Bali later this year for the Oakley Pro Junior
Global Challenge.
