In an effort to assemble the world’s most brilliant young surfers in one place, for one full-on, no-holds-bared contest, this September the inaugural Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge arrives on the wave-rich shore of Bali.

To qualify the field of the world’s best junior surfers, the series has been extended to include international Pro Juniors, which will be held in some of the most renown surf venues, including South Africa, Brazil, France, Australia, and of course, North America.

The top two competitors from five designated Oakley Pro Junior events around the globe will qualify for the big dance in Indo. The Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge is the ultimate showdown.

The Oakley Global Challenge will link these five Pro Junior events as qualifiers for a Global Championships, which will culminate in Bali this September with four days of competition during a 10-day waiting period. This international competition, which will pit the best young surfers from around the world against each other in some of the best waves on the planet, will also be followed by a unique competition in which the athletes themselves will choose what type of approach they want to be judged on, based on the conditions during that particular day. So, if it’s barreling, a tube-riding event will go down. If it’s peaky, rampy, and onshore, they’ll be judged on innovative aerials.
