NIKE 6.0 PIER PRESSURE PRESENTED BY JACK'S HITS HUNTINGTON BEACH JUNE 29 & 30

New ASP Grade 4 Rating Upgrades Event to Highest Rated Pro Junior Ever in North America

Huntington Beach, CA, June 18, 2008 -- The Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure presented by Jack's returns to South Huntington Beach Pier for two days, June 29-30 immediately following the NSSA Nationals June 24-28. The event has upgraded considerably for 2008 to an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Grade 4 event, making it the highest rated Pro Junior ever in North America.

As a Grade 4, the Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure presented by Jack's boasts a $20,000 prize purse and ample points up for grabs, ensuring the event will have a major impact on the Pro Junior ratings. First place will receive $3,500 and 1,500 points, which is the equivalent to winning three Grade 2 events. Hurley has further upped the ante for first place by offering an all-expense paid trip to the Hurley Bali house including a guided surfing tour with Hurley pros and a photo shoot with Surfing Magazine.

The field of 80 competitors includes 2007 ASP North America Junior Champion Adam Wickwire (Satellite Beach, FL) in the top seed position, followed by Cory Arrambide (Ventura, CA), current ASP North America Pro Junior points leader Travis Beckman (Vero Beach, FL), and 2006 ASP North America Junior Champion Eric Geiselman (New Smyrna Beach, FL), who will all begin their run for the Pier Pressure title from the round of 32.

Also gracing this year's event will be west coast standouts Andrew Doheny (Newport Beach, CA), Brent Reilly (Carlsbad, CA), Nat Young (Santa Cruz, CA) and Riley Metcalf (San Clemente, CA).

A Hawaiian contingency, including Nike 6.0 wildcards Kai Barger (Haiku, HI) and Dusty Payne (Lahaina, HI), as well as, Keanu Asing (Oahu, HI) and Granger Larsen (Lahaina, HI), will add to the already-incredible talent pool. Julian Wilson (Coolum Beach, QLD) will lead the overseas invasion.

In conjunction with the event, title sponsor Nike 6.0 will be working closely with presenting sponsor Jack's to launch a new collaboration with punk band Alkaline Trio. The limited-edition shoe and messenger bag will be available exclusively at Jack's from June 27 to July 11, after which the product will be distributed nationally.
