NIKE 6.0 PIER PRESSURE PRO JUNIOR AT HUNTINGTON BEACH TO BE WEBCAST LIVE

The Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure Pro Junior is to be webcast live July 7 – 8 at www.Nike6pierpressure.com. Live scoring, instant replays, play-by-play, color commentary and exclusive video content streaming live to your home will be just a few of the highlights featured on the webcast.

SURFER Magazine’s editor, Chris Mauro, and legendary surf announcer, Dave Stanfield, will anchor the webcast. “I love working on commentating on these things because you really get a glimpse into the future,” said Mauro. “It’s better than an amateur contest because there’s more at stake. It’s like a preview of what’s to come.”

As an Association of Surfing Professional (ASP) North America Grade-2 Pro Junior event, the Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure Pro Junior has announced a field of 80 competitors, including current ASP North America Pro Junior points leader Cory Arrambide (Ventura, CA), who will begin his run for the Pier Pressure title from the round of 32. The young goofy-footer will be keen to scalp a title at the Pier Pressure as he’s yet to win an event this season.

Wavewatch.com is forecasting a good round of swell for July 7-8th. Saturday will have a peaking mix of S and SW swells (170-180 and 205-220) along with a touch of background WNW energy. The contest will have surf consistently in the waist-shoulder high range while pulling in some occasional head high and overhead sets. The bigger waves will be on the walled/racy side but expect the medium sized sets to be fun -- particularly as we move into the tide push. We will have a mild costal eddy on tap for Saturday so look for some light S-SW onshore winds in the morning and building WNW winds 10+ knots for the afternoon.

Sunday will see the mix of swells hold through the day with similar sizes to Saturday (waist-head high+). The costal eddy continues for Sunday but may be a little cleaner in the morning. Look for light/variable winds early, then increasing onshore flow for the afternoon. Make sure to check the forecasts at www.wavewatch.com for daily updates.

Pier Pressure is supported by Nike 6.0, Jack’s Surfboards, Surfer Magazine, Surfing Magazine and WaveWatch.com.
